Itinerary

Day 1. Huaraz (3100m) – Cashapampa (2900m) – Llamacorral (3760m)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer with our private transportation to the town of Cashapampa (approximately 3 hours). During the trip, we will pass through many Andean villages in the Callejón de Huaylas. We will see many snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca, such as Huascarán, the highest tropical mountain in the world. In the town, our muleteer will be waiting to start the hike through the Santa Cruz Valley to our first camp, Llamacorral (approximately 5 hours).

Continuing our hike today, we will see two beautiful lakes: Laguna Ichiccocha and Laguna Jatuncocha, which translate to Small Lake and Big Lake in Spanish, as well as mountains like Alpamayo, considered the most beautiful mountain in the world. The hike takes approximately 6 hours.

After a good breakfast, we will ascend to the highest point of the hike, Punta Unión Pass (approximately 4 hours). From here, we will enjoy beautiful views of snow-capped peaks such as Taulliraju, Quitaraju, Rinrijirca, and Artesonraju. After taking photos, we will descend through the Huaripampa Valley to our camp (approximately 3 hours).

We will pass through the Andean village of Huaripampa, with adobe and straw constructions, then arrive at the town of Vaquería, where our transportation will be waiting to take us to a place called Cebollapampa. Along the way, we will reach Portachuelo Pass (4750m) to take great photos of many snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Blanca, such as Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Huandoys, and, of course, our mountain, Pisco.

After a good breakfast, we will walk to Base Camp, approximately 3 hours. There is a refuge at this location where we can have a hot drink or read some mountaineering magazines.

It is a long day. We will start very early along a rocky trail to the glacier, approximately 3 hours. Here, we will put on the necessary mountaineering equipment for the ascent to the summit, approximately 4 hours. Pisco is well known for its incredible views and strategic photo spots. The proximity of neighboring peaks such as Huandoy, Chacraraju, Chopicalqui, and Huascarán is amazing. The total time for the ascent and descent is approximately 13 hours.

Transfer to Huaraz.
